Mammút has been making music together since they were 14-year-old teens. In this time they have refined a sound that is saturated with heavy energy and sense of melody, something that comes to the fore in their live show, which is known for its intensity. While performing they radiate with confidence and they seem to bring you an inner freedom.
Mammút gained national attention with their third and latest album “Komdu til mín svarta systir” (2013), which won them the Icelandic Music Awards for best album and was ranked #1 in all major newspapers in Iceland, as well as their song “Salt” being awarded as best song of the year. Their music video with the song Þau svæfa has been nominated for the Nordic Music Award 2015.
Mammút has signed a publishing contract with Bella Union and published River’s End, a new EP in June 2015. Mammút will publish a new LP spring 2016. Mammút will be playing at several festivals Summer/Autumn 2015, f.eks. Botanique (Brussels), Spot Festival (Denmark), End of the Road (UK), Reeperbahn (Germany), Haldern (Germany), CMJ (US), Iceland Airwaves (Iceland). They are also supporting Of Monsters And Men in their European tour Oct/Nov 2015.
Mammút is now ready for the rest of the world.
