Salt Cathedral is the musical project of New York-based Colombian duo Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada (a.k.a Juli [hooli] and Nico). Influenced by global sounds & rhythms, a deep cultural desire to dance, and a jazz background, the pair manage to create catchy yet eclectic pop music with a unique vocal approach to melody. With each new release, Salt Cathedral sets to expand and redefine the distinctly multicultural pop genre in which they operate.
Big Waves / Small Waves, the debut record from NY-based, Colombian-born pop outfit Salt Cathedral is set for release in 2017. Packed with pop songs with a tropical flare, the album features collaborations with dancehall legend Assassin (best known for his recent appearances on Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Blacker The Berry’), dub pioneer Lee Scratch Perry and Matisyahu. With over ten million streams on Spotify, Salt Cathedral is poised to be one of the most exciting emerging acts of 2017.
Onstage, the band combines live instrumentals, electronics, and choreographed lighting to create an immersive environment of “crackling energy” (Pitchfork).
