The esteemed Iceland Writers Retreat (IWR) is looking for applicants for their 2020 scholarship opportunity! The application is open to anyone 18 and over and offers the opportunity to attend the retreat regardless of financial means. The retreat will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland from April 29 to May 3, 2020!
The recipients awarded this scholarship will be decided based on two factors: the potential he or she has demonstrated as a writer and the applicant’s need for financial aid. Applicants may apply for either full or partial funding. Full funding will cover the participation fee, as well as accommodation and round trip flights to Iceland. The Iceland Writers Retreat is an award-winning conference aimed at introducing participants to Iceland’s rich literary heritage. Named as one of the world’s best writing retreats by the Sydney Morning Herald, the retreat mixes small-group writing workshops and cultural tours to give participants an exciting way to hone their craft. The 2020 faculty includes Maria Semple, Ariel Levy, Gretchen Rubin, Will Ferguson, Kamila Shamsie, Elnathan John, David Chariandy, Ivana Sajko, Dan Kois, Kristín Helga Gunnarsdóttir and Patrick Gale.
Applications are being accepted now through October 31st, 2019. General registration is also open to participants on a first-come, first served basis.
