I have never been a big city person, and prefer to get out and enjoy the serenity of the countryside. A few months ago, I was lucky enough to visit the Westfjords, a peninsula in northwestern Iceland that is unlike anywhere else in the world.
With a population of just over 7,000 for the entire Westfjords, and about 2,500 within Isafjordur, this was definitely a place for me.
After the previous day of hiking at Dynandi Waterfall with perfect sunny skies, I woke this morning to a very serene and misty atmosphere. I headed outside with my morning coffee to enjoying the clean, fresh air, and saw the lightly snow dusted cobblestone streets of Isafjordur. It was much better than waking up to the noise of traffic and sirens!
I would recommend visiting the quiet, breathtaking landscapes of Iceland’s countryside to anyone. There is so much natural beauty to appreciate.
