Iceland has been ranked both the happiest and most peaceful country in the world, making it a fun and relaxing place to visit. With so many beautiful places to visit in the Icelandic capital, it can be difficult to determine which ones you absolutely must see. That’s why we’ve narrowed down the top five attractions everyone visiting Reykjavik has to check out!
Thermal Pools
In Reykjavik, you will find seven swimming pools that are all filled with Iceland’s famous geothermal water. Each has a traditional lap-pool as well as hot tubs, where you can sit back and relax. Fun fact: during the weekdays, the swimming pools are used for swimming lessons for primary school children (swimming lessons are mandatory in Iceland!).
Old Harbour Area
Take a walk through the colorful Old Harbour, which is home to Harpa, the city’s award-winning concert hall. Not only does the Old Harbour offer beautiful views of Mount Esja, but it is also a key starting point for many excursions, such as puffin tours and more!. In the Old Harbour, you will be able to find the Vikin Maritime Museum and the Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Marina.
