Take a Virtual Guided Tour of the Iceland Settlement Museum

Step into the Viking age and learn about Iceland’s settlement history.

Iceland’s rich history runs deep and goes back to the Viking Age. On Wednesday, February 3 at 9am EST, locals and tourists alike are invited to step into the past, and participate in a live guided tour of the Settlement Museum in Reykjavík!

The museum is an open excavation where Viking ruins meet digital technology. Located just below downtown Reykjavík, the museum uncovers the city’s history that dates back to the vikings, and explores the very foundations of Icelandic traditions. Discovered during construction work, the museum was carefully excavated to display remnants of the past. The multimedia exhibition utilizes creative technology to immerse visitors in the Viking Age, and showcase the earliest evidence of human settlement in Iceland’s capital city.

The tour is family-friendly, and free to participate. The livestream will be recorded and available for later viewing the Your Friend In Reykjavik Facebook page and on Youtube.
