On June 28th and 29th All Tomorrow’s Parties held the first ever ATP Iceland, a two-day music festival at Ásbrú, a former NATO base in Keflavík. Approximately 2,500 music lovers came to the event to see headliner Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds as well as Icelandic favorites including Apparat Organ Quartet and Múm. The festival also hosted a film festival on Saturday curated by Oscar-nominated actress Tilda Swinton.
In addition to music and film, the festival offered a guided tour about life on a NATO base, a pop quiz run by Dr. Gunni (host of a popular Icelandic game show, Popppunktur), book bingo and a fans vs. bands football competition.
The intimate festival proved to be an overall success and will hopefully return to Iceland next year.
