The Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS) 2018 was recently revealed and for the fourth consecutive year, Reykjavík was among the top five destinations! In 2018, as in previous years, Scandinavian cities paved the way, with the top seven destinations all coming from cities in this region. First and second place were secured by Gothenburg and Copenhagen, respectively, and Iceland’s Reykjavik claimed spot number three.
The only ranking of its kind in the world, the GDS-Index aims to show potential customers the importance of sustainability at conferences and meetings held in the respective cities. The index explores the environmental policies of the cities themselves, as well as the environmental initiatives of companies that provide conference and meeting services.
