With its amazing landscapes, friendly residents and abundance of things to see and do, Reykjavik is a popular destination for all. And now there’s another reason to visit: Iceland’s capital city earned the title of European Adventure Destination of the 2018 Year by Luxury Travel Guide! This is the second time the Nordic city has earned recognition, as in 2017 it was awarded Winter Destination of the Year.
Luxury Travel Guide (LTG) is a magazine covering top destinations, tourism news and reviews. Each year, LTG awards those that excel in various fields of tourism. The magazine’s judging panel consists of many professionals and multiple experts in the vacation industry. In the review, the publication describes Reykjavik as “a city of culture located in a spectacular landscape, with a wide range of activities in the glow of the Northern Lights. A family visit to Reykjavik is a recipe for exciting adventures and unique memories, an opportunity not to be missed.”
As part of the award, LTG will also honor Reykjavik with a cover feature on tourism in the city. It will describe all of the amazing places to see and do in the Icelandic capital. Áshildur Bragadóttir, director of Visit Reykjavik said, “It is a great honour for the City of Reykjavik to be seen to excel in this manner on the global level.” At the awards ceremony, Reykjavik will also be entered into the running for Global Adventure Destination for 2018.
