Tower Suites Reykjavik
Tower Suites is the newest hotel in the city, having just held its grand opening in June. A luxurious hotel ideal for those who crave comfortable lifestyles and private accommodations, the Tower Suites offers guests the highest viewpoint in all of Reykjavik. Tower Suites has eight rooms, all named after what you’ll see out your room’s window, like the Esja Corner Suite, which overlooks Mt. Esja. The hotel also provides guests with complimentary organic breakfast options, made by Iceland’s own HAPP (Healthy and Pure Products) restaurant. Your suite comes equipped with a complimentary cooler packed with Icelandic glacier water, craft beers, soft drinks and sweets.
ODDSSON Hotel/Hostel
Without a doubt the most unique on this list, the ODDSSON Hotel also serves as a chic hostel for those adventuring in the land of fire and ice. The new hotel is self-described as, “a place where design, art and cuisine merge with the borderless ideals of hospitality and comfort.” After opening in April, The ODDSSON garnered lots of attention for its appealing and original design. There are a wide variety of room options for guests to choose from, such as suites, bunks, hotel rooms, hostel rooms and pods. ODDSSON also touts a karaoke room, a yoga room and rooftop access with a hot tub. The twists don’t end there – the restaurant connected to the hotel specializes in Italian cuisine. Guests can also take ODD trips to secret geothermal springs or take a class at the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts.
Hotel Eyja
The Eyja Guldsmeden Hotel, located right off the main shopping street of Laugavegur, is named for the beautiful view of Mt. Eyja that overlooks Reykjavik. This hotel opened at the end of May and puts a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, providing guests with organic toiletries and local organic breakfasts. The hotel has 65 modern, Balinese-style rooms all furnished with 4-poster beds. Along with the on-site restaurant, guests can also enjoy a bar, fitness center and bikes provided by the hotel.
Canopy by Hilton – Reykjavik City Centre
As the newest member of the Hilton Hotel chain, the Reykjavik City Center location is now accepting reservations for its grand opening in July. Connected through six private, adjoining suites, the rooms’ styles are inspired by the ocean and volcanic rock that make up Iceland’s iconic landscape. Complimentary local artisanal breakfasts and coffee can be found in Canopy Central, one of the three hotel restaurants. Another restaurant, Geiri Smart, features a full bar with local drinks and evening beer tastings. If you’re looking for something to grab on the go, the hotel also offers guests food choices from a delicatessen. Other features located in the hotel include art shows, live music performances, a fitness center and a lush courtyard. As you venture into Reykjavik, you’ll find yourself in the heart of it all, at the city center right near Laugavegur.
