The Airport Carbon Accreditation recently announced Keflavík International Airport (KEF) earned a Level 1 accreditation through its program. The organization is an independent, voluntary program leading airports to reduce their CO2 emissions.
The organization has four levels of accreditation: Mapping, Reduction, Optimization and Neutrality. With its recent Level 1 accreditation, KEF is the 106th airport in Europe to receive this recognition. Level 1 involves looking at the airport’s environmental impact on its surroundings and mapping the operation’s carbon footprint. This level will help the airport calculate CO2 emission reductions as it progresses through the accreditation process.
