The Winnipeg Orchestra are proud to present Jóhann Jóhannson who will join them for his WSO-commissioned 40-minute work “A Prayer for the Dynamo”. This will be the world premiere of Jóhann’s orchestra commissioned work.

About Jóhann Jóhannsson
Jóhann Jóhannsson has completed his full film score for the movie “Copenhagen Dreams”. The movie is Max Kestner’s documentary film portrait of Denmark’s capital. Soundtrack to be released on Type Records in early 2012.
Philip Glass will be the subject of a remix project curated by Beck, due out in June of 2012 on Glass’ own Orange Mountain Music. Beck has asked Jóhann to do a version of one of Glass’s works for this one. The record features other remixes of Glass’ works by a list of critically acclaimed artists including Tyondai Braxton, Toro Y Moi,Amon Tobin, Cornelius, Tim Hecker, Nosaj Thing and many others. Jóhann chose to do a new version of “Protest” from the opera Satyagraha. The recording features, among others, Hildur Guðnadóttir on vocals.
Jóhann’s music can be heard in this Brooklyn Dance piece called “Temporary Matters” which was performed at the Joyce Theater in Brooklyn. View the performance here.
