Iceland’s Food & Fun Festival Kicks Off March 2 – 5, 2016

Top chefs will team up with Reykjavik’s most well-known restaurants.

The annual Food & Fun Festival kicks off in Reykjavik on Wednesday, March 2. This year, the festival is celebrating 15 years of bringing together foreign chefs, media and tourists for the three-day event surrounding natural Icelandic ingredients. The international festival combines the top chefs from either side of the Atlantic with Reykjavik’s most well-known restaurants to create unique and flavorful dishes.

Chefs from all over the world, but primarily America, Europe and Scandinavia, are invited to Reykjavik to team up with local restaurants in creating affordable, gourmet menus. Each chef is partnered with one participating restaurant, where they are challenged to prepare an exclusive menu using only Icelandic ingredients, which is then presented at all of the restaurants for an entire week. Additionally, the chefs are onsite at these restaurants for the duration of the festival.

On the last day of the festival, the chefs compete with one another to incorporate their exceptional culinary skills and their ability to work with Icelandic ingredients. At the end of the week, one chef is crowned “Food & Fun Chef of the Year,” which is an honor that has become highly respected in the culinary industry.

The festival is sponsored by its founding partner Icelandair, as well as The City of Reykjavik, Promote Iceland and many others. Stay up to date with all of the festival’s news by liking them on Facebook!
