Hailing from rural Borgarfjörður, a fjord just up north of Reykjavík, Soffía Björg’s music mimics the environment she grew up in. Björg’s sound and lyrics mirror the calm exterior beauty of Borgarfjörður, while simultaneously infusing the strong undercurrents and shallows of the fjord, giving her music introspective and aggressive emotionality.
Nominated for Newcomer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Live Act of the Year at the 2017 National Radio & Listeners Choice Awards, Björg’s self-titled debut album is a mix of americana, folk and her own unique sound. The album will be released in three separate parts, with Part I out now. The entire album was recorded in Iceland at the iconic Sundlaugin Studio.
