In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Icelandic Literature Center recently specially allocated new funds to promote literary culture. These new allocations came from a parliamentary resolution on a special short-term government investment initiative under the Ministry of Education and Culture. Funds were allotted to the literature and literary culture fields to support diverse activities in the field of arts and culture, with an emphasis on creativity and the active participation of artists in national cultural life.
In total, 36 million ISK were allocated to 45 projects across many varieties and all age groups spanning the country. They include writing of various kinds, publishing, podcasts, literary events, websites, audio books, writing workshops, courses and more.
