New Authors
On the Icelandic Literature Center website, you can find a list of Icelandic authors whose books have been published in other languages. Most recently, six new authors have joined the website: Gerður Kristný, Arnaldur Indriðason, Kristín Helga Gunnarsdóttir, Bergsveinn Birgisson, Bragi Ólafsson and Fríða Ísberg. The author’s work ranges from poetry, young adult works and even crime novels! You can search for an author by name, genre or by a language at the website here.
New Translations
Each week, the Icelandic Literature Center receives copies of Icelandic works of literature in foreign translations, courtesy of translation grants. New titles can be found from Andri Snær Magnason, Eva Björg Ægisdóttir and Einar Kárason. Check out the full list of titles added here. All of the books are available at the National Library of Iceland!
New Videos
The Icelandic Literature Center, in collaboration with Business Iceland, the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and more, has produced videos where Icelandic authors provide a perspective on their inner worlds, with the objective of bringing them closer to their readership, and reflect on the society from which their works have emerged. In the latest video from the Center, Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir, Hallgrímur Helgason, Oddný Eir Ævarsdóttir and Sverrir Norland, discuss Icelandic literature in French – with English subtitles! Take a look at the discussion here.
