Since 1937, Icelandair has long been known for its services in bridging North America and Europe through Iceland. And now there’s two more stops along the way: Cleveland and Berlin.
Coming in 2018, Icelandair will begin service to Cleveland, Ohio. Located on the shores of Lake Erie and home to 2.2 million inhabitants, Cleveland will become the airline’s 19th gateway in North America. The first flight will take off in May 2018 and tickets will be available for purchase soon. Continue to check back here for more updates!
“Cleveland is the perfect destination for our route network,” says Icelandair CEO Birkir Holm Gudnason. “We are happy to be the first carrier to provide service to Europe in 8 years. This addition also strengthens our route network and bridges Europe and Cleveland together by providing direct service to Iceland in addition to quick and convenient connections to 30 destinations in Europe.”
Year-round service from Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) will also commence on November 3, 2017, with three flights a week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays. Tickets are now available for purchase with plans to further expand more flights to Berlin in the summer of 2018.
“Berlin, the largest city in Germany, has rich history, diverse culture and vibrant nightlife, which we look forward to sharing with our passengers,” says Gudnason. “Berlin is our 4th gateway in Germany, and establishes our commitment to strengthen our transatlantic route network by providing passengers with more convenient connections between Europe and North America.”
Icelandair currently serves 30 destinations in Europe and 18 in North America. The airline continues to set an international example for flight services by offering more destinations, new aircraft, popular amenities and even live in-flight performances and entertainment! Icelandair also recently announced its increased Wi-Fi and high-speed connectivity streaming services available for passengers in 2018.
