In the third World Happiness Report, released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Iceland ranked #2 on the list of happiest places on Earth. Iceland jumped from ninth place in 2013 to second place this year. According to the report, nature and culture combine to make Iceland a truly happy place.
The World Happiness Report (published in 2012, 2013, 2015) is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness. In the report, leading experts across several fields, including economics, psychology, survey analysis, national statistics, health, public policy and more, describe how measurements of well-being can be used effectively to assess the progress of nations. The report reviews the state of happiness in the world today and shows how this new science explains personal and national variations in happiness. The report reflects a new worldwide demand for more attention to happiness as a criteria for government policy.
In the CNN article, “Get Happy in the World’s Happiest Countries,” author Katia Hetter also names the land of fire and ice as one of the happiest nations in the world. The CNN article highlights Iceland’s Vatnajokull Glacier & Skogafoss Waterfall in South Iceland, Blue Lagoon Spa, and the annual Reykjavik Art Festival as fun activities and attractions that can make your visit to Iceland the happiest yet.
The other Nordic nations, Denmark (#3), Norway (#4), Finland (#6), and Sweden (#8), are all included in the top 10 of the World Happiness Report.
