Iceland-Inspired Art by Andrea Krupp Coming to Philadelphia

The month-long exhibition features works inspired by Krupp's painting residency in Iceland.

In 2013, Andrea Krupp traveled to the Gullkistan Center for Creativity in Laugarvatn, Iceland where she spent two months creating artistic masterpieces inspired by the country’s powerful landscape and rich history.  According to Krupp, her residency in Iceland was a profound experience, so much so that she’s currently running a Kickstarter campaign to return to the Nordic country for a second residency. She has been accepted into a 6-week program in Listhus, in the North of the Iceland, which she will be embarking upon later this winter.

Krupp’s exhibition is running from October 10 through November 6 at the Twenty-Two Gallery located at 236 S. 22nd Street in Philadelphia. The exhibit, entitled “NORTH of HERE,” features Iceland-inspired woodcuts and monoprints. During the three-day grand opening, attendees will have the opportunity to admire the unique pieces, speak personally with Andrea, and even win a piece of Krupp’s artwork to enjoy at home! Andrea is also hosting “Gallery Talk” on October 11 at 3:00 p.m. to discuss “Iceland, Inspiration and insight into the artistic process.”
