Iceland Airwaves is a one-of-a-kind, 4-day music festival that takes place every October in Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavík.
This past year’s festival marked the ten year anniversary of the very first Iceland Airwaves (a more informal celebration held in an old airplane hangar) that has since grown into an internationally-acclaimed week-long event loaded with top musical acts. Homegrown bands play back to back with some of the latest and greatest international names on the charts.
Iceland Airwaves 2009 offered a fantastic show of over 200 bands, solo performers and DJs to thousands of music fans from all over the world. Visiting acts were amazed by the sheer energy of the crowds present.
Highlights included the Kings of Convenience, Alaska in Winter, GusGus, Mammút, For a Minor Reflection, FM Belfast, & Ólöf Arnalds. Review the full festival line-up here.
