The Seljalandsfoss waterfall, which is arguably Iceland’s most famous waterfall, is situated in a boundless green field. It’s cascade drops 20 feet from the rocks above into a serene little pool below.
The Huffington Post points out that by following a footpath, passersby can stand under the waterfall and peer out from behind it. “This means you can stand alone in a glowing cavern while the sunset shines through the waterfall stream,” “stand inside a waterfall alone at night,” or even “see the northern lights… from inside a waterfall,” The Huffington Post writes.
Seljalandsfoss even has its own TripAdvisor page full of rave reviews, with users calling it “awe inspiring” and noting that ”The most appealing thing about this waterfall is, of course, the fact that you can walk behind it, and for me, it lived up to the hype… we were able to walk behind the fall and see the endless view from behind it.” The waterfall was also featured in the first leg of The Amazing Race 6.
