Gagarin Receives the International Red Dot Award!

The Icelandic company will receive the award for its work on a Landsvirkjun exhibit.

Gagarin, an Icelandic design company, will be awarded the Red Dot Award for their work with the “Powering the Future” exhibition featured at one of Landsvirkjun’s oldest hydro stations, Ljósafoss. The company won the SEGD Award last year for their design of the The Eldheimar Volcano Museum exhibit.

This year, Red Dot, a globally renowned design competition, received entries from 46 countries. Over the past several days, 26 experts on the Red Dot jury evaluated each of the entries individually on site. In the end, the jury decided Gagarin has the best communication design.

In celebration of Landsvirjun’s 50th anniversary, Gagarin designed the bright and inviting exhibition, “Powering the Future.” Visitors are able to learn the basics of electricity through an interactive learning experience. The exhibition includes a large sound and kinetic light sculpture to demonstrate the natural phenomenon behind Iceland’s renewable energy.

Power stations have become one of Iceland’s newest and hottest tourist destinations. Plan your visit to one of Iceland’s power stations here!
