In the southern village of Gardur, located within the country of Iceland, dozens of artists from varying nationalities live and breath together in order to be directly inspired by nature, the region and its people so they can in turn produce new and intriguing works of art.
For this unique event, artists are invited to partake in a five week of residency. During this time the artists will share their knowledge and their artistic expertise, through varied forms of media. Beginning on June 14th and continuing until late July, the results of these five weeks of residence will be visible in the form of exhibitions, installations, and concerts, both inside and out of Gardur.
Under the artistic direction of Mireya Samper, the theme this year is devoted to “bright nights” and what better way to become inspired than by the landscape surrounding the fishing village of Gardur, made of lava fields and pastures, and open to Atlantic winds on all sides.
