Here’s some good news: according to Columbia University Earth Institute‘s World Happiness Report, the world became slightly happier and more generous over the past five years. CNN reported that the world’s happiest country is Denmark, followed by Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden, with Iceland coming in at number nine. The survey ranked seven nordic countries in its top ten, with residents’ average life evaluation score of 7.6 on a 0-to-10 scale.
The report revealed some interesting insight into the factors of happiness. For example, while money is a factor in happiness, other social factors like strength of social support and degree of personal freedom tend to have a greater effect on overall happiness.
