As Iceland’s popularity continues to soar, beloved attractions are adding new features to keep up with the rise in tourism. Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s most visited spots, is set to open The Retreat, a five-star hotel and spa, in February 2018!
Spotted on Vogue’s list of The Most Anticipated Hotel Openings of 2018, the hotel promises a more private and luxurious experience at the Blue Lagoon. According to the official website, “The Retreat is carved into an 800-year-old lava flow. The spa at the Retreat brings you into harmony with nature and the timeless powers of the Blue Lagoon’s revitalizing warmth.”
The hotel will have 62 suites “built into the volcanic frontier and encircled by the Blue Lagoon’s mineral-rich geothermal waters, the suites at the Retreat open the door to unparalleled hospitality.”
The new hotel and spa will also feature the brand new Moss Restaurant, dedicated to exploring the delights of Icelandic food. At The Moss, diners can sit at the chef’s table, relax in the lounge, and drink from wine stored in the cellar deep in the centuries-old lava.
