Award-Winning Icelandic Film “A Land Shaped by Women” Now Available on Demand!

The inspirational Icelandic film, “A Land Shaped by Women,” documents world-champion snowboarders, Anne-Flore Marxer and Aline Bock, on their snowboarding and surfing adventures throughout Iceland. Throughout their travels, the duo experience amazing Icelandic scenery, the famous northern lights, and various inspiring and iconic women that spark interesting conversations along the way.

The film features interviews with Katrin Oddsdottir, a human rights attorney who assisted in creating Iceland’s new constitution; Heida Birgisdóttir, the founder of Nikita Clothing store and one of Iceland’s first female snowboarders and surfers; Vilborg Arna Gissurardóttir, one of the first Icelanders to climb Mount Everest; Una Torfadottir, a poet & Icelandic activist, and more.

The award winning film has been recognized at various festivals around the globe for its positive, inspiring message and tribute to Iceland’s standing as a gender equal country.

For almost a decade, Iceland has been ranked first in gender equality by the U.N. The country was the first to ever democratically elect a female president, and has been at the forefront of promoting gender neutral working environments. As professional snowboarders, both Marxer and Bock saw themselves in a male-dominated sport and felt compelled to fight for gender parity within their passions. Marxer’s efforts resulted in equal prize money for female competitors and placed women back on the Freeride World Tour – an incredible advancement for female sports.
