Taste of Iceland returns to Boston March 4-7 to celebrate various aspects of Icelandic culture. Bostonians will have the opportunity to experience authentic Icelandic cuisine, rock out at the famed Reykjavik Calling concert, view and discuss Icelandic film, learn how Iceland’s inspiring writers around the world and more during this four-day festival. Taste of Iceland in Boston

Icelandic Menu at The Merchant | March 4-7
Icelandic chef Thrainn Freyr Vigfússon, head chef at Blue Lagoon’s LAVA Restaurant, will fly to Boston to collaborate with American chef Matt Foley, Executive Chef at The Merchant. Thrainn has won numerous awards and is currently the coach of the Icelandic Culinary Team. Known for his innovative approach and talent, Thrainn is a leading authority in Iceland’s culinary world. He was named Icelandic Chef of the Year in 2007 and was awarded the silver medal for Scandinavian Chef of the Year in 2009. He will bring Icelandic cuisine to The Merchant’s kitchen and work with Foley to create a cohesive (and delicious!) menu. Reykjavik Calling

Reykjavik Calling | March 5
​Taste of Iceland’s famous Reykjavik Calling concert returns to The Middle East on Saturday, March 5. This year’s lineup features Icelandic bands Axel Flóvent and Ceasetone, with additional performances by local bands Adam Ezra Group and Nemes. Reykjavik Calling in Boston is sponsored by WERS and Iceland Naturally. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Must be 21+.

Rock in Reykjavik

Screening of Icelandic Film “Rokk í Reykjavik” (Rock in Reykjavik) | March 6​
Join Iceland Naturally for a screening of Rokk í Reykjavik, a documentary that explores the expanding rock scene in Iceland. The film features a variety of performances and interviews with well-known rock stars from 1981-1982. The screening at the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge is first-come, first-served. Afterward, join Sigtryggur Baldursson, managing director of the Iceland Music Export, for a Q & A session to learn more about the film and the current music scene in Iceland.

The Write Stuff

The Write Stuff: Why Iceland Inspires Us to Put Pen to Paper | March 5
This literary event celebrates Iceland’s robust storytelling culture with a discussion lead by Eliza Reid, a Reykjavik-based writer and editor who helped found the Iceland Writers Retreat, an annual gathering for published and aspiring writers. Iceland is one of the most popular destinations for creative minds, and Reid will focus her talk on what makes Iceland so inspirational for lovers of the written word. Attendees can learn about, discuss and purchase novels from highly-acclaimed Icelandic authors. Attend The Write Stuff and share your experiences from the event using #TasteofIceland and #IcelandWriters for the chance to win a signed copy of Bloodhoof!
