Win a Ticket to the Scandinavia House’s Online Screening of Icelandic Oscar Contender “Agnes Joy”

This year, the Nordic & Baltic Oscar Contenders series at Scandinavia House is going virtual! In coordination with Scandinavian Film Festival L.A. with BalticFilmExpo@SFFLA, New York City’s Scandinavia House is offering virtual screenings of films chosen by the Nordic & Baltic countries to compete for the Oscar nomination for the Best International Feature Film.

From January 7-11, viewers can stream the Icelandic nominee Agnes Joy, directed by Silja Hauksdóttir. The film recently received nine nominations at Iceland’s Edda Awards for film and theatre and won in six categories, including Best Film, Best Script, and Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Agnes Joy follows the middle-aged Rannveig (Katla Margrét Þorgeirsdóttir), who is bored by her suburban life. When a well-known actor moves in next door, both Rannveig and her rebellious daughter Agnes (Donna Cruz) become interested in him. The film also features performances from Þorsteinn Bachmann, who plays Rannveig’s husband, and rapper Kristinn Óli Haraldsson (known as Króli). Check out the film trailer here.

The ticket giveaway is now closed. On Thursday, January 7 at 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT, tune in on our Facebook page for a Q+A video with Agnes Joy director Silja Hauksdóttir.

Congrats to our winners – please be sure to check your email for your ticket and enjoy the film!
