The Festivals and Events Department of the Reykjavik Cultural Office and the Department of Children’s culture in Reykjavík have come together to bring you the Reykjavik Children’s Culture Festival, happening now through June 14th. The event offers youths a variety of activities including theater workshops, circus performances, visual arts, storytelling, music, film, puppetry, and dance activities.
Since 2010, the Reykjavik Children’s Culture Festival has prioritized an emphasis on youth involvement in art with participation from nursery schools, primary schools, music and art schools, libraries, museums, theaters, and other cultural institutions. Already, a grand exhibition from this year’s festival drew in about 800 children to learn about nature through art by way of sustainability teachings and creation of earth-conscious art with some of Iceland’s most prominent artists. The next exhibition, featuring works by the German artist Moki at Reykjavik City Library at Gerðuberg, will take place May 2nd through May 8th.
