Visit Reykjavik from June 1-17 to take part in an exciting festival in Iceland’s capital! The biennial Reykjavik Arts Festival will host a wide variety of exhibits and art pieces from international and local artists as it celebrates the diverse culture of the country.
Reykjavik Arts Festival is a multidisciplinary festival featuring both contemporary and classical art pieces. The hub, Reykjavik Arts Museum, will be open until midnight each night of the festival and will feature a pop-up bar designed by a local artist. All events held at the hub will be free to visitors.
This year’s festival will evolve around the theme of “Home.” Since 1970, the festival has chosen a different theme for artists to connect their work to. The theme aims to add depth and context, while mirroring current events at the time.
The festival places art in unconventional places around the city, making art accessible to everyone in the area. Events include a dance exhibit at Reykjavik City Theatre, public space exhibitions along bike paths and a temporary playground at Reykjavik City Hall.
