Reykjavik Culture Night

All of Reykjavik will head out to the city’s streets to celebrate Culture Night on August 19th. This night marks the start of Reykjavik’s cultural year when museums, theaters and other cultural institutions open their yearly programs and exhibitions. From 1:00-11:00pm, the city comes alive to celebrate the best of Iceland’s culture with special events held in residential gardens, museums and businesses across the capital. There will be over 300 activities in music and art, including a hip hop festival, flea markets, virtual reality experiences, and garden parties and concerts hosted by local radio stations. The event will kick off with an opening ceremony hosted by the mayor and will be capped off with a fantastic fireworks show outside the renowned Harpa concert hall. Per tradition, Culture Night’s slogan is “Come on In!” referring to the well-known customs of Icelandic hospitality. Thanks to the well-organized team at Visit Reykjavik, all events and bus transportation are free so grab your friends and sign up here!
