Icelandic film, “Woman at War,” will be screened at The Avalon. The recent picture has Magnolia’s President Eamonn Bowles raving, “Woman at War is a blast,” and The Variety’s Jay Weissberg pointing out, “Is there anything rarer than an intelligent feel-good film that knows how to tackle urgent global issues with humor as well as a satisfying sense of justice?”
The movie follows the main character, Halla, played by actress Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir, as she declares a one-woman-war on the local aluminum industry. She is prepared to risk everything to protect the pristine Icelandic Highlands that she loves until there is an unexpected turn of events: an orphan finds her way into Halla’s life and changes it forever.
