Salvör Nordal became the Ombudsman for Children in Iceland in 2017. She has a Phd in philosophy and was director of the Centre for Ethics and assistant professor at the University of Iceland until 2017. She was a member of the Working Group on Ethics, appointed by the Parliament, as part of a Special Investigation Commission of the Icelandic Parliament, 2009-2010, investigating the fall of the Icelandic Bank. She was elected to the Constitutional Assembly in 2010 and chaired the Constitutional Council in 2011. As the Ombudsman for Children Nordal is focusing on children’s participation in decision making in Iceland and her office is now drafting a strategy for Iceland in this respect.
