Chef Joseph Holmes is the executive chef at the Red Stag Supper Club. Holmes grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he began working in the restaurant industry at age 14. After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in 2002, Holmes honed his culinary skills working at some of Minnesota’s top restaurant and catering companies.
Chef Holmes eventually left the Twin Cities, refining his craft at New York and Chicago’s top restaurants, Aquavit, Merkato 55, Charlie Trotters, and True as well as Casa Jordi, a highly rated restaurant in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, Holmes was instrumental in Nationally launching the Macy’s Culinary Council, which includes celebrity chefs, Rick Bayless, Marcus Samuelson, Wolfgang Puck, Tom Douglas, Takashi Yagihashi, and Michelle Bernstein.
Holmes’ refined technique and attention to detail have earned him a great deal of recognition. He’s participated in top industry events including Chef Dance/Sun Dance Film Festival, Sobe Food & Wine festival, Burger Bash, and Glamorama in Minneapolis, Chicago, and LA. Chef Holmes was one of seven chefs chosen to participate in Miami’s International Mango Festival. Holmes feels that being a part of the local food scene is essential in producing creative and flavorful dishes as well as giving back to the community.
With over 18 years of experience working with and for culinary greats, Chef Holmes has made his home in Minnesota where he resides with his wife and two children in Eden Prairie.
