Dr. Bjarni Palsson is the manager of the Geothermal Department of the R&D Division of Landsvirkjun, the national power company of Iceland. As such, he is responsible for the geothermal power project portfolio of Landsvirkjun. Landsvirkjun operates three power plants in Northeast Iceland, totalling 155 MW, and is currently considering several optimization, expansion and greenfield projects. Dr. Palsson has a PhD degree in petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. He has been involved in geothermal projects since 1996 and has been employed within the Landsvirkjun group since 2002. He has lectured internationally on various topics related to geothermal topics, such as preparation of bankable documents. Dr. Palsson has served as the president of the Geothermal Association of Iceland and a board member of the International Geothermal Association (IGA).
