Hyeok Kim

Deputy Mayor, City of Seattle

Hyeok Kim is deputy mayor for external affairs for the City of Seattle. She serves as Mayor Ed Murray’s chief liaison with Seattle Communities and the region.

Most recently Kim was executive director of Interim Community Development Association in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District. The Association is a a nonprofit affordable housing and community development organization serving Asian, Pacific Islander, immigrant and refugee communities in Seattle. Prior to that position, she was a senior policy analyst for the Speaker of the House and House Democratic Caucus in the Washington State Legislature.

Kim was a 2010 Marshall Memorial Fellow and a 201-2011 AECF Children and Family Fellow. She has served as a commissioner on President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Northwest Asian Weekly named her a 2008 Top Contributor to the Asian Community.

Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States when she was five years old. She is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
