Doug has been bartending in Boston for close to a decade. While attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst, he began his restaurant career and quickly developed a passion for crafting cocktails.
After graduating with dual degrees in Philosophy and Literary Journalism, Doug moved back to Boston and began progressing his career from bartender, to bar lead and eventually bar manager. While working at 5-star hotels in the city’s financial district, he soon established himself as one of Boston’s up-and-coming young bartenders.
Doug and the Beat Brasserie teamed up in late 2015. Enamored from a young age with the beat writers of the 50’s and an amateur jazz drummer himself, Doug was a perfect fit with Beat Brasserie’s subterranean, bohemian vibe. The combination of the Beat’s live jazz, blast from the past atmosphere and Doug’s reimagining of classic cocktails have made the restaurant a staple attraction in Cambridge’s historic Harvard Square.
