We’ll Meet in Reykjavik

Iceland’s location between Europe and North America makes it the ideal site for international discussion. As such, The City of Reykjavík, Icelandair Group and Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre have founded a new convention bureau, “Meet in Reykjavík,” to promote Reykjavík as an international conference and event city. The founding commission seeks to increase conference and event visitors and increase annual industry income to Iceland’s capital city by at least one billion ISK over the next three years.

There are fifteen founding members altogether for the project and the financial base is 95 million ISK. Meet in Reykjavik aims to include most tourism companies operating in Reykjavík and within three years the contribution from the industry should be double that from the City of Reykjavik.

Among the aims set by Meet in Reykjavík within the next three years are:

–          To increase the annual amount of conference and event visitors by 20%

–          To increase annual industry income by a minimum of one billion ISK

–          To increase the number of international conferences in Reykjavík to at least 30 per year
