Upcoming Summer Music Festivals in Iceland

You can’t have a summer in Iceland without going to at least one music festival. There are many festivals held all throughout Iceland during the summer ranging from classical music to electronic music. Here are just a few festivals happening this month:

Folk Music Festival: July 4-8 marks the annual Folk Music Festival. This year it will be held in Siglufjordur, north Iceland. There will be performances of both Icelandic and foreign folk songs and also hiking and dancing.

Besta Utihatidin: The outdoor music festival will be happening July 5th-8th. This will be its third year running at Gaddastadaflatir by Hella in south Iceland. Performers will include Sykur, Pall Oskar, Retro Stefson, and more!

Reykjavik Accordion Festival: The accordion festival will be held in Reykjavik from July 14th-15th. Accordion players are able to show off their accordions as well as their music to the public. A large variety of different types of music will be played to showcase its diversity.

Reykholt Music Festival: The last week in July will be the Reykholt Music Festival, which offers a weekend of classical music. In and around the Church of Reykholt there will be an array of internationally known classical musicians and performers performing.
