Travel Safely with Icelandair

The airline is offering tips and safety advice to help people travel safely and responsibly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Iceland transitions to welcoming travelers back into the country, Icelandair is sharing some helpful tips and safety advice to keep in mind to be a responsible traveler and keep everyone’s health and safety in mind during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Icelandair asks all passengers to stay at home if they show any symptoms of illness, wash hands regularly, and use hand sanitizer dispensers where they are available. The airline may also ask travelers routine health-related questions at any point during their travels to make sure all passengers are fit to fly.

Some guidelines and other increased safety measures include:

According to WHO, the risk of getting infected on board an aircraft is lower than it is on the ground due to the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters and air quality. In fact, recent research has shown that there is little risk of any communicable disease being transmitted on board an aircraft. However, for increased safety, on Icelandair flights, the HEPA filters mean the air on board is better than the air in a traditional office environment. Icelandair’s air supply is fresh as it does not circulate the same air on board for longer than 2-3 minutes and it passes through a series of filters 20-30 times per hour, providing a regular supply fresh of cabin air.

On all flights, Icelandair encourages passengers to maintain personal space as best as they can, and show kindness and understanding towards fellow passengers as we navigate this new normal together.

All safety measures and tips can be found here, and Icelandair encourages that all travelers review these guidelines before embarking on their trip.
