The Travel Channel: Get Inspired in Iceland

Reykjavik was the first UNESCO non-native English speaking City of Literature in the world and has more writers and books published per capita than any other country in the world. Erica J. Green wrote an article titled “Inspired by Iceland: Ravens, Elves and Waterfalls” for TravelChannel.com that explains why Iceland is an ideal destination for writers. Green is also the co-founder of the Iceland Writers Retreat, an event April 9-13, 2014 that features workshops led by famed authors from around the world. A frequent traveler, Green found Iceland to be particularly inspiring.

Whether enjoying ‘incredible cuisine’ in downtown Reykjavik or exploring the ‘awesome natural beauty,’ of the Golden Circle, visitors are bound to find inspiration all over Iceland. Though a raven perched on a rooftop initially catches her attention, Green quickly discovers the natural phenomena that attract most tourists to the land of ice and fire: Geysir, the meeting of tectonic plates at Thingvellir, Gullfoss Waterfall, Blue Lagoon geothermal spa and more.

Green concludes by stating; “Be it the raven, the natural wonders or maybe just the ‘hidden folk’ doing their magic, Iceland inspired my creativity, allowing me an escape and a chance to develop my writing, my favorite hobby.”
