Take Monday Off

The height of summer might not seem the most obvious time to visit a place whose very name invokes freezing temperatures. But Iceland more than makes up for its lack of bikini-worthy weather—not least with the near-perpetual sun that graces the country this season. (“Night” lasts less than three hours this month.) Throw in the quirky culture, gorgeous hot springs, volcanic landscapes and abundant wildlife and you’ve got more than enough to sustain any traveler for a week. Or, take advantage of the extended sunshine and pack it all into a cool three days.
