Sigur Ros, the popular Icelandic rock band from Reykjavik, are the newest members to be added to the long list of musicians who have been drawn into the eclectic world of “The Simpsons.”
According to an article in the LA Times, Sigur Ros will guest star in and compose music for the season finale episode, which will air on May 19th. In this episode, Carl, who is Homer’s best friend, will run off to his native home of Iceland with the lottery winnings that he had agreed to split with Homer, Lenny and Moe.
This episode contains hijinks, an endless amount of jokes about Carl’s African-Icelandic roots and a run-in with the famous band, Sigur Ros.
The band has composed original music for this episode, and they are also expected to cover the well-known Danny Elfman theme song that plays during the show’s opening credits.
Throughout “The Simpsons” unprecedented 25-year run, there have been many iconic musicians and bands that have appeared on the show including the Rolling Stones, Lenny Kravitz, James Brown, Lady Gaga and more.

“The Saga of Carl” aired on May 19th to close out yet another season of The Simpsons.
Sigur Ros commented on their appearance on the iconic cartoon: “The band’s music scores Homer’s visit to Iceland, make an unprecedented musical collaboration between the show and a band; with this episode, Sigur Ros have written and performed more original music for The Simpsons than any other outside band in the show’s history.”
