Russ & Daughters Herring Pairing Returns to NYC!

Join the Astor Center on July 11th for an evening of tasty food, Brennivin cocktails and music.

On July 11th, expand your palate at this exciting food and drink tasting event! Join the Astor Center in New York City for an evening celebrating the rare delicacy of herring and Icelandic beverages at the annual Russ & Daughters Herring Pairing event. Now at the peak of its season, the freshly-caught herring will be prepared in multiple ways and paired with speciality cocktails featuring Iceland’s signature aquavit, Brennivin.

This year’s array of dishes will be prepared by renowned guest chefs, including chef Gerardo Gonzalez, owner of the popular Manhattan restaurant Lalito. Gonzalez will bring a new flavor to traditional herring dishes, drawing influence from his southern California upbringing, Mexican roots, and love for New York City cuisine. Among the array of preparations will be the prized New Catch Holland Herring, adding a new twist to Russ & Daughters favorites. The evening will also be accompanied by soothing jazz tunes from acclaimed tenor saxophonist, bandleader and composer Paul Shapiro.

What better way to enjoy your herring than with some delicious Brennivin drinks? To top off your dish, pair it with one of the sparkling wines, spirits and cocktails carefully selected and provided by Skurnik Wines. If you can’t make it to the event this year, you can still give Brennivin a try at one of these locations around North America!

Tickets for this event are limited and selling fast, so don’t miss this chance to experience a genuine Lower East Side tradition! You can book your tickets now here.
