Calling all jazz-lovers: the Reykjavik Jazz Festival returns to Iceland from September 5-9! Held annually since 1990, the Reykjavik Jazz Festival is the longest-running music festival in Iceland. With performances from jazz musicians from Iceland and all over the world, the Reykjavik Jazz Festival is a must-attend music event.
Attendees can expect to see performances in a variety of jazz styles, from contemporary jazz and the avant-garde to latin and gospel jazz. Against the backdrop of Iceland’s spectacular natural views, Reykjavik is an inspiring location for the shows. The city boasts a variety of different venues for the jazz performances, including churches, museums, breweries, hotels and more.
Festival goers kicked off the festivities with a pre-jam at Bryggjan Brugghús, a local brewery in Reykjavik on Sunday, September 2. The festival officially begins with a parade and opening ceremony on Wednesday, September 5. The four-day celebration will then take over the city with performances by acclaimed musicians, including the Scott Mclemore Quartet, the Ingi Bjarni Trio, Icelandic cellist Þórdís Gerður Jónsdóttir, Vocalist Katrín Halldóra Sigurðardóttir and the Arctic Swing Quintet, and many more.
