Reykjavik International Film Festival Begins

The Reykjavik International Film Festival kicked off Thursday night with a screening of Solveig Anspach’s The Queen of Montreuil, a film about a woman named Agathe dealing with her husband’s death. RIFF highlights independent filmmaking from all over the world and will screen a wide range of dramas and non-fiction films from more than 40 countries this year.

According to the blog Filmophilia, the mayor of Reykjavik attended the opening ceremony dressed as Obi Wan Kenobi. Read more about the weekend’s events here.
