Reykjavik Food & Fun Festival February 24-28

If you appreciate culinary delights prepared by gastronomic masters, this is the week to be in Iceland!

For food lovers in the know, Iceland is an up and coming culinary destination where freshness is key. The high point of the culinary year is the annual Food & Fun Festival which draws international chefs to collaborate on special restaurant menus throughout Reykjavik and to participate in a competition where the only rule is – Icelandic ingredients only!

Exclusive Restaurants Menus
Celebrated chefs from the US, Canada and Europe are invited to collaborate with Icelandic chefs on incredible 4-course menus which are served at Reykjavik’s best restaurants at the same price during the festival.  This year’s participating restaurants are:  Silfur at Hotel Borg, Gallery at Hotel Holt, Grillið at Hotel Saga, La Primavera, Fish Market, Fish Company, Dill at the Nordic House, Vox at Hotel Hilton, Við Tjörnina, The Pearl , Einar Ben, Grand Hotel , and Nautholl.

Chef vs. Chef
Chefs from the USA, Canada and Europe will be teamed up with the most prestigious Icelandic chefs and given the finest Icelandic ingredients to create their masterpieces.  Each team will prepare 1 lamb dish, 1 fish dish and 1 dessert.  These meals will be served at the finest participating restaurants across the city of Reykjavik until the grand judging. To close the weekend’s festivities, a gala awards event will be held on February 28 featuring a recap of Food and Fun 2010 and the top chefs of the year.

An international jury of 10, made up of chefs, journalists and industry people, will judge the competing dishes to give out 4 awards for 2010.
In addition to the grand prize of “Food and Fun Chef of Year,” prizes will also be awarded for the best Fish Dish, best Meat Dish, and best Dessert.

Join this year’s proud sponsors including Icelandair, Reykjavik Pure Energy, Icelandic Agriculture and Iceland Naturally along with 14 of the top chefs from around the world as they compete for the 2010 Food & Fun Chef of the Year award.
