Reykjavik Fashion Festival 2013

Since 2009, the Reykjavik Fashion Festival has provided emerging Icelandic designers with the opportunity to collectively showcase their work, giving them recognition both in Iceland and around the world.

This year, the festival will take place in collaboration with DesignMarch from March 14-16, 2013 at the state-of-the-art Harpa Concert Hall.

“I think that the collaboration between DesignMarch and the Reykjavik Fashion Festival is very exciting,” said Thorey Eva Einarsdóttir, managing director of the Reykjavik Fashion Festival. “Together we will present the biggest fashion and design event of the year. This will create the platform to inspire new ideas, creativity and business opportunities.”

Showcasing Icelandic fashion design, the festival invites media, fashion bloggers and fashion experts from around the world to experience this unique event. The Reykjavik Fashion Festival also welcomes fashion enthusiasts everywhere to come discover Icelandic fashion culture.

Designer Line-Up:

ANDERSEN & LAUTH

Andersen & Lauth was the first Icelandic atelier and tailor shop, founded in Reykjavík 1934. Today, there is a team of 4 women behind the label, who are true to the brand’s history by using the same quality expertise driven by passion for craft and detail as well as the vibrant and creative cultural scene. The Andersen & Lauth AW13 collection seeks inspiration in the art and cultural scene with a twist of vintage and romance.

ELLA

Established in 2011, ELLA is a slow fashion brand created by Elínrós Líndal and a group of talented women with a goal in mind: to bring honesty into the fashion world. They always put emphasis in high quality fabrics and timeless style. The collection that will be showcased on RFF is light and reflects their mood for the season. After recession times the ELLA team feels it is time to celebrate, not in a loud way but with grace and mindfulness.

FARMERS MARKET

Farmers Market is an Icelandic design company and clothing brand, founded in 2005 by a young artist couple – a designer and a musician. With strong ties to the vibrant Icelandic music and design scene, the Farmers Market design concept and inspiration draws from the Icelandic roots, combining classic Nordic design elements with chic modernity. Natural fabrics, craftsmanship and respect for the environment are key values of the brand.  Authentically styled, yet sophisticated and wearable, the clothing is suited for a wide range of occasions, outdoor activities as well as city life.

HUGINN MUNINN

“Fine clothing should not define anyone’s path, but help everyone find its own.” – is the leitmotif of the Icelandic brand Huginn Muninn. Their very first shirt collections were inspired by Iceland’s history and heritage, the following steps have shifted the conceptual emphasis into a new route, keeping the genetics of the brand but opening it to new influences. Huginn Muninn’s intentions were expressed in the launch of a branding campaign that will search, find and celebrate those individuals of all backgrounds that stay true to who they are, embrace their passion and dedicate their efforts and time into producing the best work possible.

JÖR BY GUÐMUNDUR JÖRUNDSSON

Mundi and 66°North are proud to announce a new collaboration between the two companies. “MUNDI 66°NORTH” is a fusion between the highly technical production quality from 66°North and the surreal world of Mundi. The collection is called “snow-blind”.
