Rainbow Reykjavik Festival 2014

From January 30 – February 2, 2014, LGBT individuals from across the globe will come together in Reykjavik, Iceland for the third annual Rainbow Reykjavik Festival. The LGBT pride festival offers a fun-filled program, featuring a variety of activities that include culture, cuisine, nature, music, and nightlife.

When it comes to LGBT rights, Iceland is a frontrunner. In June 2010, Iceland legalized same-sex marriage, making it the ninth country in the world to do so. Iceland also boasts the world’s first openly gay prime minister, Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir. The gay scene in Iceland is relatively small, but active and growing, existing mostly in Reykjavik where one third of the population shows up for the annual Reykjavik Gay Pride celebration.

At Rainbow Reykjavik, guests can soak in the steamy lagoon at the Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa, hunt for the beautiful Northern Lights, explore the streets of Reykjavik, dance into the night at the Pink Party featuring local performers and DJs, and bask in the splendor of Gullfoss waterfall. Feeling spontaneous? Pink Iceland, Iceland’s gay owned travel and event expert, will help you plan a unique Icelandic wedding, with the option of a ceremony in a cave or on a glacier! If four days isn’t enough, Rainbow Reykjavik also offers an extended program with extra activities for two days before and after the main program.

The Rainbow Reykjavik package includes flights with Icelandair, accommodation at an Icelandair Hotel (breakfast included), and the full Rainbow Reykjavik program. Rates vary based on departure location and program (main or extended). Click here for the full itinerary, rates, and booking information.
