Now Available: the 2021 Edition of Books from Iceland!

The Icelandic Literature Center announced the new annual booklet which includes Icelandic literary works from the past year.

Calling all bookworms: the Icelandic Literature Center recently announced the latest edition of Books from Iceland – an annual booklet which includes selected Icelandic titles from last year. In this new edition, readers will find selected Icelandic titles in different genres, a list of works sold abroad, Icelandic literary awards and nominations in 2020, information about the center’s grants, and so much more.

The booklet is selected by the Center’s literary advisers and includes a variety of genres including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, young adult works, and new Icelandic crime fiction. In addition to being available digitally online, Books from Iceland is published for book fairs in London, Frankfurt, Gothenburg and other events abroad.

In response to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, the Icelandic Literature Center has launched new promotional avenues to increase awareness of the Icelandic books and their authors on the international scale. This includes videos of Icelandic writers discussing their works in both English and French, and enabling distribution of the works through translation and travel grants.

You can read the full booklet for free here, and learn more about the Icelandic Literature Center here. Let us know in the comments if you’ve read Icelandic literature before!
